Wet and Wild Day at Children 1st @ Main Street
| We had planned a ‘Wet and Wild Day’ for the whole nursery to take part in, with a host of wonderful water play activities for everyone to enjoy in the glorious summer weather.
As ever the British weather was unpredictable and it wasn’t warm enough to wear our bathing suits. However, despite the weather the ‘Wet and Wild Day’ still went ahead and our children very much thrived in a day filled with wellies and rain coats! Jemima Puddleducks and Bobtails had lots of fun inside with the water wheels and jugs. They liked to splash in the water and watch as it trickled down the wheels. Filling and emptying the jugs into the tray was fun especially when the water splashed up into their faces. The early years children came prepared in their all in one suits and wellies for fun outside in the morning rain. The early years children also decided to make potions from using powder paint and water. They mixed the ingredients together using the large jugs of water and poured the water into the tray watching the colours change. The children then scooped the water into the potion pots. Water Play gives many opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills across age ranges. Children will increase their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination through actions like pouring, squirting, scrubbing, stirring and squeezing. The sun may not have come out to play but we all had a great time at our ‘Wet and Wild Day!’
