Diwali Adventures at Children 1st @ Syston
Some of our early years’ children had such fun, taking a trip out on the bus to Leicester to visit the traditional Indian shops. The children had the opportunity to explore all the different colourful items they had for sale. We purchased some divas and some dancing sticks. We also had a look at the Indian sweets and took some back to nursery for all of our friends to try. Everyone enjoyed their tasty treats.
The story of Diwali inspired creative activities. The children made their very own divas from clay, decorating them in bright colours and adding plenty of glitter to make them sparkle. They also enjoyed colouring in Rangoli patterns and creating their own mehndi patterns.
Everyone loved our dress-up day where the children dressed up in bright colours or wore traditional Indian clothing to celebrate this special Hindu festival.
Thank-you to all the shop keepers who made us so welcome. This visit to the shops provided the children with invaluable first hand experience, not to mention the sheer joy of going out on a bus together!
