Chinese New Year Day at Children 1st @ Main Street

To explore the Chinese celebration of New Year, the Year of the Rat, the children have taken part in a range of activities.

As well as talking about the traditions associated with the festival, the children loved making their own rat masks and colourful Chinese lanterns. With themed tuff spot play and writing using Chinese characters to have a go at, our Chinese New Year Day was enjoyed by all.

Food is always an important part of any celebration so at tea-time the children tried some authentic Chinese food. They really enjoyed trying the various foods,  especially the prawn crackers.
