Traditional Tales at Children 1st @ Syston

Our children have really enjoyed finding out about ‘traditional tales.’ A traditional tale is a story that’s been told and repeated for many years. As a result, the story becomes a common tale which is known by everyone.

With stories to share, matching games to play and an array of baking activities, no wonder everyone has been so busy!

The story of the ‘Gingerbread Man’ inspired the children to make and decorate their own ginger bread people.

After sharing the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears,’ the children created their own version of this tale and used bowls of different sizes and porridge oats as they role played the action. Some lovely pictures of the main characters were painted.

The “Three Little Pigs’ matching game helped the children develop their number and observation skills. This story also prompted discussion about building materials!

More baking took place after hearing the story of ‘The Little Red Hen.’ Unlike the characters in the story, everyone shared the task of making some delicious bread and then had the enjoyment of eating it!
