National Fitness Day at Children 1st @ Newark
National Fitness Day takes place each year in September. The day is designed to highlight the role physical activity plays in helping us lead healthier and more active lifestyles. It’s a reminder that it’s good to move and that as well as keeping us fitter, it can be great fun.
Here at Newark we decided to mark the day by holding a fun filled Sports Day. Everyone arrived at nursery, full of enthusiasm, wearing their sports clothes. Sadly, it was a very wet day, more of a welly day than trainers but that didn’t dampen our spirits!
Our Sports Day featured all the traditional events such as the egg and spoon race, bean bag throwing and welly wanging which, given the weather, was very appropriate!
The event gave us the opportunity to discuss with the children the reasons why exercise is important.
The children were super proud to share their certificates with their parents and carers at home time.
