Solar System Exploration at Children 1st @ St. Peter and St. Paul

Here in Early Years at SPSP we have been very busy with our Space topic. We launched our first Early Years’ group challenge. This month’s challenge was to create your own solar system.

The investigations were soon underway using technology for research, problem solving with shapes in the maths area and  designing and sharing ideas for our final creations. Families were invited to join in with our research by exploring space theme at home.

Each group chose a totally different way to meet the challenge, such as creating 3D models, large scale models and even using the children themselves to represent the solar system. Each planet showed their own facts. All our children have thoroughly enjoyed their ‘Space’ topic so far.

After amazing efforts by all the children, our Green Group came 1st with their large scale, 2D and 3D solar system. All of our children are looking forward to a space themed treat this week.
