Preparing for Spring at Children 1st @ Acorns Upper Tean
We are busy preparing for Spring here in the barn!
For the last three years we have been lucky enough to have birds nesting in our bird boxes, so this year we decided to add some more boxes to our woodland area.
Mr Peter has designed some new boxes and we have been helping to put them together. We used screwdrivers to fix the screws into the holes. Mr Peter put numbers on the wood, so we could match which sides went to which. There were a lot of screws, and it took us all afternoon to do. It was lots of hard work, so we took it in turns to help.
Miss Claire showed us a nest that we had found last year. She asked us if we could guess which bird had built the nest. “It’s a robin’s nest I think,” said Beatrix. We also looked at a very small blue egg that we found last year.
Mr Peter is going to weatherproof the bird boxes with some special paint, and we are going to help him put them up into the trees. We can’t wait to see which birds fly in to nest in our garden this year! Thank-you Mr Peter for all your help!
