Red Riding Hood and The Very Hungry Caterpillar at Children 1st @ Buckinghams
The topic of the month at our Buckinghams’ nursery is ‘traditional stories.’
Inspired by the story of Little Red Riding Hood, the children enjoyed a number of different activities. These included making fruit baskets and get well soon cards for Little Red Riding Hood to give to her grandma.
The children were soon immersed in their Little Red Riding Hood tuff-spot. The children made their own house using the Duplo and used the items in the tuff-spot to act out roles from the story with their friends.
As well as developing their language skills, these activities encouraged the children to practise their fine motor skills when cutting and holding their pencils in a tripod grip.
The Bobtails have been looking at their story of the month, another much loved story, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ The children sat together and showed great listening skills as Miss Katelyn read the story.
For snack the Bobtails tasted the various foods eaten by the very hungry caterpillar, blueberries, watermelon, strawberries, cheese, pickle and salami. No wonder the caterpillar was so full after eating his way through all this food!
The children made some beautiful butterflies using so many bright colours. Well done everyone!
