News Update from Children 1st @ Acorns Upper Tean
Remember the news post about the caterpillars we found munching their way through our crops? (Published on 15 August) We placed them in our butterfly house and watched as they transformed into cocoons. We’ve been wating patiently for the first butterfly to emerge and at last, it has finally happened. Everyone took a close look at the butterfly and noticed that we have got a lot more cocoons in the butterfly home and that more caterpillars were at the top of the net ready to transform into a cocoon. We can’t wait to release more butterflies into the garden.
The caterpillars may have enjoyed eating our crops but we’re pleased they left plenty of fruit and vegetables for us to enjoy. We recently harvested tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes and used them to make a salad for tea which was a perfect accompaniment for our pizzas. We all tried everything and decided that the tomatoes were sweet and the radishes were peppery.
