Smiling Bakers and Road Safety at Children 1st @ Buckinghams

Whilst the babies at Buckingham were busy baking, the Early Years were learning the important life skill of how to cross the road safely.

The babies had so much fun experiencing the texture of the flour and experimenting by filling and emptying a variety of containers, pretending to make their own cake once shown by Miss Amanda.  Wearing their blue and white bakers’ outfits, the babies’ facial expressions show they all had a great time!

Later on in the day our star bakers made rice crispy cakes to take home and to enjoy with their families.

Road Safety Week linked well with our Travel and Transport theme. As well as talking about how to stay safe when crossing roads and the message of Stop, Look and Listen, the Early Years engaged in role play to reinforce these important safety skills.

Using the zebra crossing in the outside learning area, the children took turns in dressing as the crossing patrol officer and holding the ‘lollipop’, driving the car and being the pedestrians.
