Sharing a Shell at Children 1st @ Toton
Early Years have been exploring the book ‘Sharing a Shell’ by Julia Donaldson which tells the story of a little hermit crab who doesn’t want to share his shell with a blobby purple anemone and a tickly bristleworm!
The children listened to the story and joined in with discussions about the various characters and how the events in the story made the different characters feel.
The children all agreed that the crab was feeling sad because the other creatures wouldn’t share their shells with him. The children then realised that once the other creatures all worked together and found a shell to share they all felt good.
Sharing a Shell showed the children how being kind can make themselves and others feel good.
