Promoting Independent Learning at Children 1st @ Wragby Road
At Children 1st Nurseries we encourage all our children to become independent learners. This ethos is built into all our activities at age-appropriate levels as the children enjoy their learning journey at nursery.
For example, at Wragby Road the babies choose the toys they would like to explore, our Bobtails and Peter Rabbits wash their own hands. The Peter Rabbits also love to get themselves dressed and our Early Years’ children choose their snacks, take risks by climbing trees and take control of their play selecting what they would like to make from a variety of resources.
We are proud that all our children leave for school with a love for learning, being active learners and having fun, building on their steps towards this independence from when they first join us.
One big milestone in the development of every child is being able to use the toilet independently and for parents wanting to support their child with this toilet training this may seem a little bit daunting. To support with the process, staff at Wragby Road have made up some toilet training bags for parents of children in the Peter Rabbits’ room who are thinking about starting to toilet train their child.
The bags contain some useful hints and tips from our staff and ideas on how to start the process along with some other useful bits. Parents are invited to take a bag from the nursery reception area and to pop along to speak to a member of staff in our Peter Rabbits’ room if there are any questions. Staff are only too happy to help!
