International Days at Children 1st @ Plumtree
Owls and friendship have been the theme of two recent celebration days here at Plumtree.
To celebrate International Owl Awareness Day our Early Years children took part in a range of amazing owl activities! Throughout the day, the children learned about owls, how they are ‘nocturnal’ and come out at night to hunt.
They went on to make their own owl masks which they didn’t take off for the duration of the day! They loved wearing them as they flew around our garden pretending to be owls, making their very best ‘twit-twoo’ sounds!
Later in the afternoon, the children had lots of fun cutting and sticking their very own owls and their efforts are fantastic. Well done everyone!!!
To celebrate International Friendship Day the children were invited to bring their teddy bears or other favourite furry soft toys into nursery to share with their best friends and to take part in a Teddy Bears’ Picnic!
The children in all our rooms loved joining in and had a fantastic time eating out in the sunshine during their Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
On top of this, our Early Years children found out about the significance of International Friendship Day. This included talking about the importance of friendships and how animals as well as humans can be our friends.
The children spent time with our four nursery guinea pigs and gave them some special treats! They children chopped up a range of vegetables including carrots and broccoli (whilst also getting some which we had grown in our vegetable patch!) before going out and feeding them to our guinea pigs. Mr Kai talked to the Early Years’ children about the importance of looking after the guinea pigs, and what we must do to make sure they stay healthy and happy. The children loved hearing all about this and we are already planning some super fun activities to celebrate this friendship in the future.
