Hola! A Wonderful Week of Colour at Children 1st @ Meir Park
From the vibrant reds and yellows of the Spanish flag to the sparkling blues and purples of our potion mixtures, the Early Years revelled in the opportunity to enjoy a varied week of activities which brought colour and new experiences to our nursery.
As our topic is ‘International Communities’ one of our Spanish parents, Rocio, asked if she could come in and teach the children some Spanish words and t talk about some traditional Spanish foods. The children all tried the tasty, colourful Spanish food and looked at some beautiful traditional clothes. There was even some trying on which the children loved! The Spanish dancing had everyone laughing as they tried a few steps and before we knew it, we were all learning how to count to ten and saying key words and phrases like,”Hola amigos!” Gracias Rocio for spending time with us and helping us to learn about Spanish culture.
Miss Chloe added a splash of colour to the week’s activities with the potion making activity she introduced. Using materials in gorgeous shades of blue, purple, and pink, the Early Years were soon busy using a range of utensils, water, and cauldrons to make the perfect potions. Such wonderful fun that promoted their language development and their fine and gross motor skills as they measured, stirred, and scooped their potions.
