A Spikey Visitor at Children 1 st @ Syston
Linking in with our Autumn topic we had a very special visitor in nursery. She was a hedgehog called Lou Lou. One of our parents kindly brought her in to visit us from the local hedgehog rehabilitation centre dedicated to nurturing and supporting hedgehogs who need that extra support.
The parent gave a brief discussion on how they look after the hedgehogs. She told us what hedgehogs eat and a little bit about their habit within the wild. She also spoke about how long they live for and explained about their spikes and under fur. (The contrast between spikey and soft.)
The children were invited to hold Lou Lou and enjoyed feeling the texture of her spikes.
Afterwards he children took part in painting their very own interpretations of a hedgehog which are now showing on our fabulous Autumn display in nursery.
