Colouring the Snow at Children 1st @ Main Street
Following the heavy snow fall on Sunday, the children were really excited to tell the staff all about their fun-filled snowy weekend.
After breakfast the children put on their hats, scarfs, gloves and wellies ready to explore the snow. They were very excited when they saw how the snow had transformed their outside play area.
Firstly, the children loved being ‘big helpers,’ working with Miss Jac and Miss Lindsey to move the snow to make a path for the mummies and daddies.
After this the children had lots of fun in the garden making snow angels and playing in the fluffy snow.
The children also experimented with colours and colour mixing in the snow, filling containers with powder paints ready for the activity. Before they began the children talked about what they thought would happen when the paint hit the snow. What colours would they make?
All the children took turns in mixing colours and we watched closely to see the effect of the paint on the snow. We chatted about what happened when we added another colour or added more of the same colour. The children were able to tell us if the colours were light or dark colours too.
This was a great day in our winter wonderland and the children were fascinated to see the effects made by colouring the snow.
