Fresh Air Happiness at Children 1st @ Oakwood

Come rain or shine, the children love discovering the delights of our extensive nursery grounds whilst enjoying the freedom and fun of being in the fresh air.

Our Benjamin Bunnies have been exploring our beautiful forest area in a week of mixed  weather. They had so much fun playing in the rain, dancing, splashing in puddles, holding out their hands to feel the rain and even feeling the rain on their faces by looking up to the sky! They searched for shelter in the trees and had lots of fun singing songs such as ‘Rain, Rain, Go Away.’

Exploring the forest in the sunshine gave the Benjamin Bunnies some different experiences, such as playing barefoot, jumping and splashing in the stream and feeling the running water with their hands and feet! They also enjoyed running through the spraying water to help cool down in the sunshine.

Next stop was the large sand pit, where, playing barefoot and enjoying the sunshine, they built sandcastles with Miss Alice using the spades to fill the buckets and going  ‘tap, tap, tap’ on the top before the big reveal!

Benjamin Bunnies are doing a great job in looking after the ducks. They help to let them out in the morning and walk them down to play in the steam! The Benjamin Bunnies love talking to the ducks about what they have been playing in the forest, and singing the five little ducks nursery rhyme especially for them. The ducks seem to love quacking back!

In the hot weather, our Peter Rabbits have been sleeping outside underneath the conifer tree benefitting from the cool shade. Sleeping in the fresh air has a host of benefits such as increasing brain activity, which improves happiness, concentration, memory, and cognitive development! It’s such a lovely experience!

Outdoor mealtimes are a hit with everyone. On shady terraces or down by the chalet in the forest, it’s good to eat ‘al fresco’ and chat with friends about our busy days.
