Let It Grow at Children 1st @ Meir Park

It was time to get planting at Meir Park as the children gathered to plant a selection of vegetables with the aim of harvesting them later in the year for lunch.

With the motto of ‘home grown is best,’ the excited young gardeners chose which vegetables they wanted to plant, peas, sweet corn or carrots. Soon the seeds were planted, labelled and watered. Everyone delighted in the tactile experience of handling the compost and the seeds.

All we have to do now is wait and watch them grow before planting the young plants outside. Before we know it, as one of the children said, “We’ll be able to eat them for our dinner!”
