Mark Making in the Snow at Children 1st @ Hathern and Birstall - Children 1st Day Nurseries

Mark Making in the Snow at Children 1st @ Hathern and Birstall

It may have only been a thin layer of snow but that didn’t dent the enthusiasm of the children at Birstall and Hathern as they headed out for adventures. The children at both nurseries loved exploring the snow.

The Early Years at Hathern noticed the snow coming down and quickly put their coats on to go and explore. They loved using their hands to mould the snow into balls to make snow men as well as making different marks in the snow such as lines and shapes. The children got stuck right in, choosing to use cars to mark tracks in the snow.

The Bobtails and Jemima Puddleducks really enjoyed watching through the window as the snow fell down and watching Miss Tora shiver as she collected it for them to explore. The children were interested in the snow as soon as she brought it in to play with. They used their hands to feel the texture of the snow and how cold it was as well as wooden spoons, pans, and mirror disks to make different marks and scoop it up. They enjoyed transferring the snow from the spoons to the pans and mixing it until it turned to water.

At Birstall the children in Early Years and Peter Rabbits enjoyed exploring the snow using their senses. They felt the cold snow on their hands whilst building castles and also recognised the different marks made with their shoes.
