Mississippi Map Turtles at Children 1st @ Meir Park
Miss Suzanne kindly brought her Mississippi map turtles to nursery so the children could find out more about these fascinating creatures.
Known as ‘map turtles’ because the patterns on their shells resemble those of a map, the turtles were closely watched by the children as they swam about.. Being so close to the turtles meant that the children could closely observe these markings on their shells and the beautiful yellow patterns on their bodies. They were even able to hold them.
All of this observation and handling was accompanied by plenty of lively chatter about what the turtles eat and where they live. Many thanks Miss Suzanne for bringing the turtles to visit us.
