My Family and Me at Children 1st @ Shepshed - Children 1st Day Nurseries

My Family and Me at Children 1st @ Shepshed

What a busy month at Shepshed where we’ve been busy exploring the topic, ‘All About Me and My Family.’

The children have enjoyed a wide range of activities as we really wanted them to talk about themselves, their abilities, who they live with and where they go.

Sharing the beautiful story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen encouraged everyone to speak about their favourite family adventures.

We used the ‘feeling faces’ transient art activity to encourage the children to develop their confidence in talking about themselves and their feelings. The children did a fantastic job of building their own houses and drawing inside them to represent the people with whom they live.

The children explored letters from their name using cucumber and cutting it themselves.  This activity also helped them to learn about handling knives carefully. It also linked into our harvest theme when we spoke about fresh vegetables and where they came from. The children loved getting involved in vegetable printing and enjoyed the different textures and shapes they made.

The children were really happy to engage in all these activities, sharing their ideas and past events. They showed a willingness to talk about the differences and similarities between people and also showed great listening skills and respect when their friends were talking.

We hope you enjoy looking through the photos showing some of our activities.
