Outstanding Double for Children 1st @ Meir Park
We are delighted to share the news that Children 1st @ Meir Park was judged to be ‘Outstanding in all Areas’ for the second time in a row following its latest Ofsted inspection. The nursery has held this status since 2017 which demonstrates the high quality and consistency of childcare provided, the continued hard work of the nursery staff and the support of its families.
The glowing report praised the exceptional quality of provision and relationships and described how the children were welcomed each day into an environment that ‘ignites their excitement and curiosity.’
During the recent visit the inspector scrutinised all aspects of daily life at the nursery. This included a learning walk with two senior nursery leaders, observations of the quality of education provided indoors and outdoors, discussions with staff, children, numerous parents and a review of all relevant documentation and procedures.
What Impressed the Inspector?
The report praises the outstanding and exemplary quality of leadership and management, educational provision and the children’s behaviour, attitudes, and personal development.
An Exceptionally Safe and Inspiring Setting
Within the outstanding provision, a culture of respect is fostered, and the children become ‘highly independent learners’ and ‘confident communicators.’ The children’s personal development benefits from opportunities to take responsibility and the warm quality of relationships. The curriculum is described as ‘excellent,’ and the children’s attitudes to learning as ‘outstanding.’
Exceptionally Strong Leadership and Management
The report praises the staff who benefit from the outstanding quality of leadership and management at the nursery. Staff are given access to relevant training to maintain the high standards and to promote their professional development. Their well-being and welfare are also a high priority for the caring management team.
With high expectations of the children, and a deep knowledge and understanding of them, the staff plan an excellent curriculum full of interesting experiences to challenge the children and help them reach their full potential. The inspector noted how the ‘highly qualified and experienced staff’ provided ‘exceptional opportunities to promote the children’s’ communication, language and listening skills.’
Excellent Partnership with Parents
The important role played by very supportive parents, and the excellent relationships and communication between staff and parents are all acknowledged in the report. The result, according to the inspector is that new children are settled into the nursery with great care and the needs of families and children are always prioritised.
A Delighted Nursery Manager
Sara Allen, nursery manager, is overjoyed with the contents of the report.
“We have in place our own very thorough systems of self-evaluation but nevertheless it is fantastic to receive this validation of our outstanding provision by Ofsted. I am pleased that the report acknowledges the strength of our relationships with our families and our ambitious vision for the nursery.”
“Thank-you to the wonderful staff team here at the nursery, our delightful children and highly supportive parents who have all played an important role in helping us to achieve this accolade for the second time.”
