People Who Help Us at Children 1st @ Clowne
Children at our Clowne nursery were delighted to receive visits from both the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service based at the Clowne Station and Derbyshire Police last week to support their ‘People Who Help Us’ topic.
The Fire Service showed the children the various pieces of special clothing they wear depending on the rescue they are attending. As well as seeing the protective equipment worn for typical fires, the children were amazed to see the equipment used when the firefighters have to go underwater. The shiny red fire engine that carries so many tools needed by the firefighters was a big hit. It’s not every day that they have the opportunity to meet real firefighters and have a fire engine come to nursery!
We were also fortunate to have a visit from Harrison’s Daddy who is a Police Officer and now teaches at the Police Academy. The children listened really well as he spoke about how the Police help us and watched with fascination as he showed them the equipment used by the Police. The children were wowed by having a real Police car in our carpark and loved trying on some pieces of uniform!
These visits meant so much to the children and we are indebted to both the firefighters from Clowne Fire Station and to Harrison’s Daddy representing Derbyshire Police for generously giving their time to share with the children so much information about how they help us. The children were buzzing with excitement after these visits! Thank-you so much!
