Recycling Week at Children 1st @ Toton
For ‘National Recycling Week’ we had a special visitor from Broxtowe Council. Erin was fantastic with the children and gave them lots of information about recycling.
The children were all given special Hi Vis jackets to wear and Erin explained that the Hi Vis jackets help people, such as the bin and recycling collectors, be seen and stay safe.
Erin spoke to the children about what recycling is and they learned about all the different types of recycling materials. The children were told about the benefits of recycling and learnt a new phrase to help them remember to clean the items before placing them into the recycling bin, “THE CLEAN GREEN BIN.”
Next, the children took items out of the truck and decided if they could be recycled or not and placed them onto the correct bin image. The children were very excited to receive pencils made from recycled newspapers which they could take home.
The children all loved this and cannot wait to help recycle at home and see what they can make from all the materials they have recycled at nursery.
A big thank-you to Broxtowe Council for visiting us today and giving the children valuable insights into the importance of recycling.
