Seeds of Learning at Children 1st @ Grantham
The Early Years have been looking at the story of the month, ‘The Tiny Seed’ by Eric Carle.
After sharing the story, the children explored a variety of fruit, feeling the different textures and talking about where the fruits grow. After cutting open the fruit, the children looked closely inside to see what the seeds were like. They used the magnifying glasses to be able to look more closely and the tweezers to pick out the little seeds. They went on to create some lovely pictures of the fruit.
Making friendship bracelets saw the Early Years tasked with using their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and problem-solving skills as they made different patterns with their beads. This was a delightful social experience as the children shared and made bracelets with their friends and for their family.
Peter Rabbits have been engrossed in some large-scale painting. The children used a range of different tools to create an assortment of marks. Hallie-Mae loved painting her hands and putting her feet into the paint to feel it on her skin. George enjoyed adding lots of glitter to his paint and rolling the plastic eggs through the paint!
Our Bobtails have also been busy with some large-scale painting. This time they layered paint on tin foil and used their senses making different marks with the paint rollers, brushes, and their hands.
In our Under 2s suite our Jemima Puddleducks have been discovering the springtime treasure basket. They loved exploring all the objects, feeling the peacock feathers on their skin, watching the flowers and leaves swoosh in the sensory bottles as they were shaken. Playing peek-a-boo with Miss Natalie using the coloured sensory materials caused much amusement!
