Sharing and Turn Taking at Children 1st @ St. Peter and St. Paul

Our Early Years have been focussing on sharing and turn taking. We played the game ‘Smelly Wellies’ where we had to take turns. We placed the puzzle boards together and then each had a go at finding a pair of wellies. We waited patiently until it was our turn and helped each other out if we really struggled. The more we played the game, the more we were able to remember the patterns on the wellies when we turned unmatched ones over. We thought this game was great for testing our memory and to make us work well as part of a team.

Well done red group and blue group!

As well as having fun playing games together, we love sharing stories here at St. Peter and St. Paul and were delighted when one of our Peter Rabbits brought along the fantastic classic story, ‘The Tiger Who came to Tea,’ by Judith Kerr.

After sharing the story, we enjoyed taking part in some role play.  We found our own tiger, some food, a yummy cake, and some cups for our own tea party. The children were very engaged and enjoyed gathering what we needed for tea.

The children’s engagement with this activity led to a change in our planning so we could enjoy some more story themed activities all together!

We would love to know and share some stories that your children like at home, so please feel free to bring one along.
