Solvents and Solutions Wow at Children 1st @ Derby Road
| Inspired by our book of the month, ‘ Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson, we decided to make fantastical potions and learned two new words in the process!
As we were mixing our potions, we discovered different things were happening to the water which is when we introduced two new wow words, solvent and solution. The children loved our new wow words and wanted to know more. We decided to spend two days carrying out experiments using sugar, sand, bath bombs and water. As you can see by their faces, the children were fascinated by what they observed and, having had so much first- hand experience, now understand the meaning of our two new wow words.
