Stories Good Enough to Eat at Children 1st @ Leicester
Two very popular Julia Donaldson stories have inspired some food activities recently at our Leicester nursery.
After sharing the story of ‘The Gruffalo,’ the Early Years enjoyed making Gruffalo crumbles to have as puddings! They were very eager to make this special crumble. They chose the ingredients and measured everything out.
As they ate the crumble they spoke about the texture of the ingredients, whether it was hot or cold and the roles the characters played in the story.
The Peter Rabbits really engaged with a variety of activities after listening to the story of ‘The Stickman.’
A Stickman themed tuff spot which contained items mentioned in the story absorbed their interests and helped them to re-imagine the story. There were also Stickmen to make, and the Peter Rabbits were very keen to gets their hands busy as they decorated breadsticks with chocolate!
The children were so proud of them and couldn’t wait to show their families. They tasted pretty good too!
Stories and food! What a great combination!
