Stranger Danger at Children 1st @ Grantham

PCSO Patrick of Lincolnshire Police, recently visited us to support our topic on the theme of ‘Our Community – Emergency Services.’ Patrick talked with the children about ‘stranger danger’ and guided them to think about who might be safe strangers, and who are not safe strangers.

The children really engaged well with this activity. Patrick spoke about the people the children might see when they are out with their parents and if they thought they were safe strangers or not. The children were able to say that their teachers at nursery are safe strangers along with the Police, Fire Service and doctors/nurses. He explained the difference between both sorts of strangers.

After the discussion, Patrick showed the children his splendid Police car. The children were all so excited to have a turn at sitting in the driver’s seat. They learned how to turn on the lights, and about what is carried in the boot of the car. He went on to explain what the contents of the boot could be used for, such as traffic cones being used to close off a road. Some of the children were really interested in the details of the car like the Police badge.

Thank-you so much to PCSO Patrick for giving his time to talk to the children about the important topic of stranger danger and for letting the children give his Police car such a close inspection!
