Such a Busy July at Children 1st @ Chesterfield Royal Hospital
From washing vehicles to having fun chasing bubbles, we’ve having a July full of happiness here at Chesterfield.
The month started on a high when some of us went across to the hospital to greet Princess Anne as she arrived to open the new A & E Department. The children even made her a card. When she had gone inside the police invited us to look at the motorbikes,. The children were able to sit on them and learn how they work. We would like to say a big thank you to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital for inviting us over and looking after us. It was a very special day!
The Early Years were finding out about vehicles when one child mentioned how he loves to help daddy clean the car. This sparked a car cleaning frenzy when the children got out their sponges and the hosepipe and set about washing some cars belonging to the staff. What an enthusiastic bunch they were. They certainly made the cars sparkle!
Benjamin Bunnies have been looking at vehicles too. Their focus was on emergency vehicles. As well as playing with toy vehicles, they made their own models using cardboard boxes. They enjoyed mark making by pushing the vehicles through paint.
The babies have been exploring natural materials. Posting pinecones into baskets, feeling leaves and sticks, this hands-on learning activity brought them close to nature and showed how well they could manipulate objects.
The Bobtails were quiet and chilled as they explored their beach themed sensory tray. They were busy making marks in the sand, feeling the textures of the sand and the bath jelly, and looking at shell patterns.
Wow! Such a busy July at Chesterfield and the month isn’t over yet!
