The Magic of the Universe at Children 1st @ Bilborough

Our early years’ children recently joined with the reception class at the Jubilee Lead Academy to experience the wonders of the universe!

A visit to the mobile planetarium known as the ‘Wonderdome’ provided the children with an incredible opportunity to begin to develop an understanding about planet Earth and the other planets in our solar system. In the giant dark sky, as they travelled through the universe, they could see where Earth belongs in relation to the other planets, how they move in space and what they are like.

Images showing the surface of the moon were a source of fascination for the children, as was looking up at the constellations we can see from planet Earth. The children were shown how to spot the shapes of animals in the constellations.

The children delighted in the wonderful, immersive 360 degree experience provided by the ‘Wonderdome.’  There were also opportunities for music and singing, with Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star being a firm favourite!
