Was it a Crocodile? Egg Update from Children 1st @ St. Peter and St. Paul
Following on from our Eggciting Times story published on 29 March, we wanted to update you on what has happened to the eggs, the children speculated on what might emerge from them, coming up with ideas such as ostriches, snakes, and crocodiles. All great ideas, but after much pecking of the shells the children were so excited when two tiny ducklings hatched.
Since then, the children have been involved in rearing the ducklings, named Jim and Red by the children and have been fascinated to observe how they have grown. The children have been able to hold and stroke the ducklings, even enabling them to have a little paddle in some water before helping them to dry. At weekends the ducklings go to stay with Miss Nicole at her house, and each time they come back we are noticing how much bigger they have grown! This has been an incredible experience for the children!
When they are seven weeks old, our ducklings will be adopted by one of our sister nurseries, Children 1st @ Oakwood, where we will be able to keep up to date with how they are getting on!
