What a Busy Week! at Children 1st @ Newark Town - Children 1st Day Nurseries

What a Busy Week! at Children 1st @ Newark Town

Move it Monday was a great way to start our week. The children have been practising dances at home and at nursery. In the under 3s it was ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.’ The younger Bobtails have been learning where their body parts are, so this action song really helped.

Peter Rabbits and Early Years have been learning the Skeleton Dance. The children loved showing us the dance they have been practising and most of them could confidently show their left and their right.  “I’ve been doing this at home,” said Isaac.

The rain didn’t stop our Wellies on Wednesday session – in fact we added more water!  The children enjoyed dancing to music in the rain and in the extra puddles we made. We encouraged gross motor movement to support their physical development. Some children rode bikes through the puddles whilst others were soon jumping with both feet into them.  Playing in the rain supports children in the development of skills such as walking on slippery surfaces and in different kinds of footwear. Wellies can be a bit tricky when you’re only little! Rain play also supports the children’s knowledge of the world through questions such as where is the rain coming from and where does it go?

Our Feel Good Friday activities were also great fun. The Benjamin Bunnies explored the cornflour and water. “Look at our hands,” said an excited Phoebe.

In Early Years the children enjoyed the relaxing sensory activity of planting herbs in our herb garden. “Mmm smells like toothpaste,” said Freddie when smelling the mint.

We hope you enjoy looking through the photos of our very busy week.
