Whatever Next! at Children 1st @ Meir Park
All the children are finding out about ‘Space’ this term and have been busy engaging with a range of activities.
The Early Years’ children have been sharing the brilliant story, ‘Whatever Next!’ by Jill Murphy and decided to have a fun day role playing the adventures of the bear who takes off to visit the moon in his cardboard box. Like baby bear in the story, we found a suitable box to use as a rocket and prepared for take-off. We found a colander for a helmet and some wellington boots for moon boots. We then packed a picnic and climbed aboard our rocket and blasted off. After all the hard work our astronauts were ready for some juice and a biscuit on the moon!
The Early Years Blue have been busy making their own moon cakes. The children enjoyed helping to weigh out the ingredients and giving the mixture a good stir! They then rolled them into a ball before giving them to Miss Debbie to put in the oven to cook!
Our Peter Rabbits have also had lots of fun with their space activities. They’ve made moon rock rice crispy cakes, been busy star printing and talking about the various colours that can be seen on the planets.
As our space themed activities continue, we’re all looking forward to what’s coming up next in our learning adventures!
