World Down Syndrome Day at Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane and Toton
To mark World Down Syndrome Day children at Rosemary Lane and Toton have been ‘rocking their socks!’
We have children at both nurseries with Down Syndrome, so today was all about celebrating differences and promoting inclusion.
At Toton, our children enjoyed reading the new book by the inspirational George Webster from CBeebies, and Teddy, whose younger brother has Down Syndrome, showed his friends the Makaton signs he uses with his brother. It was great to see so many children wearing their odd socks! (The odd socks campaign was conceived last year as the 3 strands of Chromosome 21 just happen to look like socks!)
At Rosemary Lane everyone showed their support and love for the Down Syndrome community, as well as their super friend Isabella, by wearing something blue or yellow and rocking their brightest socks! Everyone looked brilliant in their socks!
Thank-you to everyone who joined in today!
