Young Chefs at Children 1st @ The Marina

The Early Years’ children loved helping Miss Zoe make “rainbow quesadillas” for teatime. A quesadilla has its origins in Mexico  and comprises a tortilla which is warmed to soften it enough to be folded in half and then stuffed with a variety of fillings. We made ours using vegetables and cheese.

After talking about the importance of good hygiene, everyone washed their hands thoroughly and were ready to set to work. The first job was to prepare safely a range of healthy vegetables. This led to lots of talk about healthy eating and why vegetables are good for us.

One little girl said, “Vegetables help us grow strong muscles.”  Another said, “It’s good to try new vegetables.” The children (and Miss Zoe!) had so much fun making the quesadillas and especially tasting them.
